Delhi Airport - Delhi IGI Airport - Indira Gandhi International Airport

It is reported that there were gun fire at Delhi Airport Today early morning. Also there was initial reports that six gunmen where shot at New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI airport).

It is also reported in the TV news that unidentified people fled after firing at Delhi Airport. BBC reported that the Delhi airport shooting was a hoax.

The CISF control room get a call at 01:10 from passengers that they heard some gun shots near one of the gates of Delhi Airport – Indira Gandhi International Airport.

“We received a call that some passengers heard a sound similar to two gunshots, but there were no eyewitnesses. No evidence has so far come up to suggest that it was a firing and we cannot confirm it as a gunshot,” Udayan Banerjee, DIG, CISF and incharge of security at Delhi airport told reporters.

“After the sound, the CISF and Delhi Police deployment swung into action and intensified the checking at the airport,” he said adding the passenger movement is normal and arrival and departure is also functioning smoothly.

There were no injuries and the police is trying to ascertain the nature of firing.

Security at all airports in India have been tightened. Precautions being taken at Delhi Airport. CISF and NSG commandos are taken control of the Airport.
