As per economical times, global financial markets crisis can result in the loss of as many as 20,000 to 25,000 jobs in India and ET says that TCS, Infosys, HCL, Wipro and Satyam will announce huge lay-offs over the next couple of quarters.
There are no such news about Infosys firing, TCS firing or HCL now. But in the future they can also announce the firing or layoff. But due to Lahman Brothers bankruptcy filing, Wipro may fire 100s of employees.
Remember the recent Satyam layoff and HP layoff. TCS, Infosys, HCL & Wipro can also follow the Satyam and HP way.

In the last few weeks, Infosys has been systematically laying off many American workers in their US operations. These same workers had helped Infosys grew their businesses rapidly in the last eight years to a $4 billion plus a year business.
Infosys has also been letting go of US workers in tranches during the last few weeks versus a onetime laid-off to avoid negative publicity in the US. The US government should look into the mistreatment of US workers by this off-shoring company.
Infosys has lost its soul and no longer look at the interests and welfare of its employees. This company no longer value employee loyalty so you should think carefully before working for this heartless company.

HCL is worst, no pre plan. Just they will come to you, ask you to leave immediately. They will come to your seat with relieve letter.

…..oragnisations has set up group of ppl for staffing operations. Their task is to identify excess people in the system within various divisions, moving them to bench and then re-deploy for new openings. Those not fit enough for given opportunities and has spent > 30 days on bench are asked to leave. It’s a terrible situation as employees being layoff in phase manner. I have a target of reducing manpower by more than 15 numbers this month end.
This is happening , the people who helped company grow during SUNSHINE years are being rubbished and asked to get out. Even the Resignation letter needs to be redrafted as per the snobby HR’s whims and fancies.
12 down ths week alone not even in bench. its..like.. SHIP OUT folks..you have become awfully out of shape after sweating out for us all the years…. direct. what abt HCL and the rest. Seems benches are full for the 2nd/3rd largest IT company

I am the victime of infosys. I served for infosys for five yrs. that too 2 yrs in onsite. I dint even listen to my words, dint even look at my performance(I got best project manager excellence award in 2007), Nandita came in person to our DC and asked to leave all my collegues who were in bench and i am the last one to get fired.

I worked in Wipro for 10 years and they asked me to resign citing performance…I wonder this kind of comments came only while layoff-ing me and it was not documented in any of the appraissal or email. How can I find job quickly during recession? What kind of reason can I tell to my future company if there is a gap. They could have atleast gave me 3 months notice to resign.

If so, you will be kept in safe place…just like you have to own your project, not like an engineer Or a manager, but as a director of the company….if you are put up in bench, don’t be relaxed and don’t let your management feel that you are free….meet ur business manager everyday and talk to ur manager everyday….do something creative…so immediately ur mgmt keep in project, because of ur torture…have good life!!

what do you think, telling you painful stories will solve ur problems, nope not at all, ofcource you guys will get some relife. but My idea is that in india there is no proper group for IT professionals. can we form a group of professionals. like IT professionals association. and all the IT professionals of india must be registred in this. when ever some unfair thing happens to any IT professional there should be a authority which can question these companies.we must have some rights. why shoul we keep calm. we have some rights right. Wipro is firing all these days. Management fired few D1/C2 grade employees, who have been in wipro for 10-12 years. Ppl who are on bench, time is really bad – many are forced to sign ADVANCED RESIGNATION letter. Now, they are giving 50% of salary after 2 months of bench. In next 6 months, they will be given chance for 2 interviews and if not cleared they will be fired. The performance tests are tougher day by day. Pass marks are increased from 60% to 70%. Those who cant clear are shown the doors.

I don’t think this recession will affect good companies bringing people to USA. I work for Accenture and I am brought here on L1 visa. I am doing programming even if documents show I am Manager. I think my company knows what how to work around laws as both my bosses Ashish Vimal and Indranil Chowdhury are Indians. I think people can come to USA on L1 visa if H1B quota is full. My company is doing extremely well.

She lied to 400 people shamelessly. When I met her she boasted about her promotion and how she had to think of firing 400 employees by thinking of fictitious non performing reasons. Shame on her!

I have been personally affected by this.
I didn’t have personally good relationship with my manager and he said I was non performing for past 2 years and this same guy said I was Exceding last year.
He is asking for how much time i worked on each tasks on particular day before 7 months.he didn’t say anything about this issue till now but he mentioned directly in the comments.
He says plainly in the discussion that since i didn’t have good relation ship with him he will give Non performance only to me.
He sucked me totally
On the top I have seen , “TCS, infosys,hcl,wipro will lay off in satayam and HP way”. But the fact is HP didnt even fired even a single person , just they reduced 5% salary globally . Wipro is the worst organization to work with. They will request you to join while hiring. The managers will think only about billing not the career of a person. Top politics with internal assessment. Employees liked by managers will pass with more than 20% grace marks. Purposely they would rate NI in appraisal for not clearing assessment. Prove you are a non performer and remove within a single day. If they cannot keep people in recession time then should have a proper way to ask them to resign.

Anybody who has undergone the fresher training process of HCL would endorse for the fact that HCL is nothing but a corporate thief. Firstly they asked the freshers to pay Rs 21,000 for their own training !!..Then they had to undergo a training which could be aptly described as a practical joke of the first order.Not even one online test could be arranged by them.After the training process, students were laid off on basis of one single exam. When requests for a re test were made, they clearly said that they wanted to eliminate people !!..Even those who joined were forced to join BPO or eliminated on flimsiest of grounds..HCL may pretend to be the “good boy” of the industry but this is what they are in reality. .Beware of HCL !!!!

Yes IT companies are laying off employees. But heard that, few employees are fighting back. Those employees are harassed by mgmt telling that they won’t be given exp. letter or they’ll write bad in the termination letter. But, these employees are strong enough to sustain all those. Also, the mgmt has still not issued any termination letter to those employees. Not the mgmt is asking them o n then, if they’ve got any offer and when they will be leaving.
Spoke to one of the employees who is fighting back … the person said that, they can’t write bad in our exp. letter, unless they have a strong basis. They use these words only to harass people.

I am on the other side of the bench, we are a small IT company with Employee First policy in USA. There are times we paid our employees first and not ourselves because we believed in the teams we hired and our responsibility to those who trusted and joined us.
Now we are at a point of almost bankrupcy, what is our obligation to our “Benchers”; we paid full salary always through our “Sunshine Years” and we supported people up till one year continious however what is fair and how to redefine the policy if we have to survive? any advise?

While layoffs are more common and carry less stigma, it is still true that employers generally prefer employed candidates to unemployed. So you need to be truthful and acknowledge the layoff..and let every one know whats the pain of a jobless candidate

TCS is recruiting only BA History, BA Economics BSc guys only. Most of them will take close to five years to understand the bigger picture.So they will be slaves for the company for meger 2-3 Lakh per annum. There will not be major increment. I was working for Wipro for 4 years and have been onsite building business for wipro for years, and you know these bastards laid off me stating that i have not performed, I have got a good rating from my supervisor and I have seen it in the wipro site the previous night. But in the morning it got changed completely, the manager called jyothi jayaraman delivery head [ mother sucker] changed it all that from the backend using the HR help and argued about performance rating. My direct manager shows her original comments to me and that is not reflecting in the original output; Damn shit this lady jyothi. and every one in this company including HR knows about this and they kept thier mouth ass shut and watching. GUYS this will happen to you also watch out. Hey Jyothi your destiny of getting promoted by traiting people under you will reflect in you children’s life damit.
